Checkers, Anyone?
(back blip #2 of 3)
There is a small park about 3 miles away. It's really very pleasant but I've never really spent much time there. It's called Desert Meadows Park. The green Valley Garden Club and other volunteers maintain it. A walk around the perimeter is a mere 1/4 mile. All of the benches and chairs have pillows and most are located under simple structures or trees. The picture I took for my blip today is part of the game area. It's a semi-enclosed space with tables for checkers, backgammon and lots of other things. There is even a game cabinet where checkers, etc can be borrowed to use in the area. I've never heard of anyone taking cushions or chairs or other things from this gem of a park. Nothing is bolted to prevent theft. People seem to respect all of the work the Garden Club puts into it. I don't seem to be able to wander very far from home due to my tummy problems so I'll probably spend a little more time here, walking along the desert paths among the cactus and stopping to relax on a comfy chair.
