One of my students has been battling with this painting (part of a series of four) for a couple of days. I’ve been urging her to loosen up and throw some paint at it. Today, just before the end of the session, she got a big brush and painted out the background in sky blue, thereby separating the foreground from the background, simplifying and improving the whole. She left, smiling!
