Everything's an Adventure
My son has spent many hours with Xander at the city parks in DC, searching for pine cones, calling fallen branches with leaves music sticks, and feeding acorns to the "monsters" in sewer drains. His theory is two year olds don't need toys - everything is new to them. Personally, I find it a relief to be able to pull out an unfamiliar toy to entertain him for as long as he'll stay focused, but I think my son is onto something. Xander is enamored by the trees, and add a few acorns to collect and he's a busy boy. Here he is hiking with Baba. One of his favorite activities at my house is filling the bird feeders. I know my enthusiasm for the birds rubs off on him, so it will be interesting to see in the future which of these activities stick, and which become only childhood memories. I can't wait until he's old enough for a camera!
