Pepper, anyone?

This rather elegent monument stands on a hill above Ullverston. For all I know, the designs of the containers for the well known seasoning were based on the monument, surely it couldn't have been the other way round! Anyway everyone calls it The Pepperpot and I know my grandmother had one that looked just like it (a pepperpot, not a monument -0bviously. I wonder what happened to it?)
