Lavender
Wallington in South London - where I live - used to be the centre of Lavender growing in the UK. With peppermint - grown in Mitcham of all places - the fields round here provided work for thousands. Its all gone now, but there are various clues to what was once here - street names, lamp post decorations, and this statue thing at the top of the High Street.
