Fall color is not so good

We were coming into Linville Falls, North Carolina and this was the first bright and bold fall color we saw in our trip up through the mountains. And it was not great.

  Many trees have completely shed their leaves.   Most of what is showing is already turning that coppery brown color.    Behind Tate's house the mountain has bare trees and a few dark, orangy gold color.   Tomorrow I will take a hike up the hill and maybe get some shots straight up into the color.  If it is any good.

Last year we were here a week later and the color was outstanding. 

I guess trees are temperamental and contrary just like people!  

Two days here visiting and then Monday we begin our trip west to Colorado.   I can tell you that the roads were crowded with other travelers.    Americans are moving into normal mode for sure.
