Another day, another coral
Yesterday I blipped a beautiful Upright Coral fungus here. Today its another coral but not a fungus (nor a plant or an animal either). This is the Coral Slime mould (Ceratiomyxa fruticulosa). I think its fair to say that most people don't notice slime moulds and consequently very few of them have been given common English names (Dog Vomit and False Puffball being the obvious ones). Coral slime mould is another with a common name but perhaps a rarer find. You have to get up close to appreciate the beauty of this one. I wish I'd had my marco lens with me. With its translucent tentacles its pretty unusual even by slime mould standards.
