The Boathouse

Spring tide today so headed to Parkgate on Wirral. There is always something to see.

Normally we park at the old baths but today, as we were early, we parked at the Old Quay, at the other end of the esplanade. It was gloriously clear and sunny and you could see across the Dee and pick out all the details along the north Wales coast.

Halfway to the old baths we stopped at the wonderful Elephant Coffee shop for coffee and pastries.

Once we reached the old baths instead of staying there to see what we could spot we decided to continue walking along a stretch that we had never explored before.

Today I signed up as a volunteer with Slow Ways UK. During lockdown 700 volunteers put together thousands of walking routes connecting villages, towns and cities across the UK. Now they are looking for 10,000 volunteers to try out those routes and add more detail. It will be good to have some purpose when out walking.

Yesterday evening we received the news that bellringing is being stood down in this area. After having resumed, albeit in a very limited way, two weeks ago it is very disappointing. However in the scheme of things it is not really that important given what we are all facing.

This is The Boathouse pub which is at the old baths. By the time I took this photo it had clouded over as you can see.
