Book

The most beautifully bound book that I own; ABC and XYZ of Bee Culture. A I Root 1947. It was first published in 1877, with many subsequent editions. I have almost no interest in being an apiarist, but if I ever get the urge, this volume looks like it would be a fine and encyclopaedic vade mecum.

We got a disturbing phonecall from my brother-in-law last night, the burden of which was that my sister had just undergone open-heart surgery! A long and convoluted list of events and symptoms have led to this, most of which have occurred since last Monday...bloody hell. She is recovering very well, from what I hear, and everyone seems very hopeful that the problem is diagnosed and solved. Poor wee Pipistrelle! Get well soon x
