Taxi for Mr Lama!
You must have heard this one? "... the story about the day the Dalai Lama was visiting a function in a London hotel. A taxi arrived for him when it was time to leave and the taxi driver entered the large reception room and shouted, “Taxi for Mr Lama!, Taxi for Mr Lama!...” We regularly have a chuckle whenever the conversation turns to taxis or the Dalai Lama.
Which is what came to mind when we came across this unexpected line of taxis down a long grassy lane along the road we were walking along. Just up the road we saw two or three more parked in the driveway of a house. They must be victims of the pandemic. It never ceases to amaze me that blip opportunities hit you when you least expect it. Ordinarily, we wouldn't have walked on this road, preferring to walk footpaths but Susan wanted to keep her shoes clean. She was not successful.
We also saw a couple of large fish in the River Len where it is crossed by Caring Lane. The were both barbel, the largest over 18" long. No wonder there were quite a few signs on the trees overlooking the river saying "No Fishing". We always make a point of looking for fish from this bridge no doubt to the annoyance of motorists as the road is very narrow across the bridge!
As you may have guessed, it's a slow news day and welcome for that too. A very enjoyable brunch, then a walk, then an entertaining FaceTime with Chris and Landon before dinner. This was the first real viewing of Chris's new place. It was strewn with Landon's toys just like the apartment. Landon was being a bit of a challenge while we were talking so in the end we let them get on with it!
