Pointing the way

On our brief trip to town this morning, it occurred to me that we are directed everywhere by arrows these days!
Stay left, one way, follow the correct route!
This neon arrow on a shop wall was bright enough to follow at any time!!
Once all this has gone away (!), will all the arrows disappear and will everyone walk random patterns again?
