Montacute House

A fine day out.....
The "walking" group had a day out at Montacute House today.  This wonderful Elizabethan House was one of the first properties bought by/given to the National Trust - in 1931 and opened to the public in 1932.
Not a lot of walking as we had not met in over 6 months so plenty of chat with morning coffee; at lunch there was a bottle of Prosecco to celebrate one member's 50th wedding anniversary earlier in the year to go with our sandwiches! Very civilised.  Tea and cake in the car park before we headed home..... As you can see not too many steps done but a lot of eating and drinking. Still I have done almost 3 miles today apparently. Not quite the ten milers we used to do but hey, years are advancing!
The weather was splendid and the sun shone.
I will go back and go into the house next time - I hear it is splendid.
