Cultures

Another quiet breakfast then we headed to Kilmartin to do a walk around all the archaeological sites and standing stones in that valley. Although cloudy it was very still and not cold....very strangely calm atmosphere and we wondered aloud about the people who’d lived here in the Bronze Age, how they’d organised their lives, how they had discovered smelting and made technological advances, and how many generations there were between them and us. Reminded me why I’d loved studying archaeology for a year at university...basically psychology at a distance!
From there we drove to https://inverrestaurant.co.uk/ for a late lunch....delicious! Very nice place with a scandi feel and very attentive and jolly staff. The views over the Loch were great....all moody and swirling with mist so quite a change from the bright blues and oranges of the last few days.
Least said about the drive home the better I think....went the wrong way when we left the restaurant and did a huge loop then hit really bad traffic at Loch Lomond so it took ages, but didn’t knock the shine off what’s been a lovely few days.
