Alladin's Cave
Back blip
We decided to give ourselves a day off today and so had a quiet morning at home and then walked out in the afternoon to head to this shop, which is about an hour's walk away and contains all sorts of temptations. It was strange walking through the area of Eixample, which usually has lots of terraces out, with not a table in sight. Well, that's not quite true as many of the restaurants, which can now only sell things for take-away or home-delivery for the next 15 days, had placed a table in their doorway to stop people from walking in and as a place to take the cash and hand over the food. It was also strange for us to set out, knowing that we couldn't stop for a beer or glass of wine on the way home. Ho hum. Anyway, we came home laden with some treats: lemon curd, jams, mango chutney, brown sauce, Branston pickle, pork pies, an individual steak and kidney pie and a beef and onion one, sausage rolls, a tin of Heinz tomato soup (for me!), a jar of chillies, custard powder (I know I know I could make it!) tartare sauce.....and probably things I've forgotten. Some will go in the freezer and some just for the stock cupboard.
A Zoom call with Jamie and Therese from The Hague and then dinner - home-made chilli from the freezer and crusty bread. Thanks to blipper Ceridwen, we then started to watch 'Gone Fishing', which I think we're going to enjoy.
