A Village Event

It was the Silent Auction at the village hall this evening, an eagerly awaited annual event!
Everything is displayed on the tables, and you write your number on the chit beside the objects you are interested in, and of course your bid! There is wine available and a delicious supper, and plenty of laughter and conversation among friends. The excitement mounts when there is only five minutes before bids close, so you go up to your chosen objects and hover around in case someone outbids you!
Where else would you find a brass pot, a set of 3 books, a silver photo frame and a dear little bird doorstop for £10.50 !!?
