Wigeons

No walk today- very rainy and windy, so just a wander about the Peedie Sea in Kirkwall. This is a large pond which used to be part of the sea until it was dammed at the seaward side and which is very good for wintering ducks We get the above wigeon, mallards, tufted duck, goldeneye, shoveler, long-tailed ducks and red-breasted mergansers. Also dropping in are snipe, resident mute swans and occasional whooping swans, curlew etc etc.
