i swapped the earlier blip for one that i took while on the phone to my youngest.

i'm making a Lardy Cake Bread & Butter Pud (for 2) tonight - why not!
i think it will be delish. 

Matt’s Lardy Cake. sliced (i'm using a quarter of a cake)
Melted butter
Grated rind of half a large orange
Castor sugar
Allspice

Layer the cake slices.
Pour over a custard made with:
2 eggs
Some milk and a bit of double cream
Basil leaves, small ones
Ground black pepper

& leave to sit for a while.

Sprinkle with Demerara sugar
and bake in the oven for half an hour.
