Wolf spider carrying babies
I found this huge wolf spider in our outside sink this morning. Initially I thought it had a strange knobbly very fat black body, but when I transferred it to the stone wall nearby and bits started to wriggle, I realised it was covered in baby spiders. Apparently the mother wolf spider is very maternal, first carrying her egg sac around and then carrying her hundreds of babies on her back for the first few days after they hatch. It was a bit dark to get a very clear photo but if you look on full screen you can just make out hundreds of little legs.
