Travel tales of micro-organisms
Evan, during his scavenger hunt: “If you were a tiny ant that lived on this branch, or maybe some kind of micro-organism, and your house was this little clump of lichen, this branch would be your whole world. The next tree would be like another country. You wouldn’t know anything about the ants that live under my house. They would speak a different ant language from you and they would eat different things. Dogs would be like space aliens or dinosaurs. And if somebody like me—some really big person—moved your branch, it would be like an earthquake.”
(He takes the branch, lifts it very carefully, places it against a tree.)
“I don’t want to scare anybody. I just give them a new experience. This can be like a trip to a new country, to learn stuff. I hope they like it.”
