Goodbyes

So today Helen retired...... after starting her nursing journey in 1979, working in London, Australia & then nearly 30 years here at ‘the ‘shawe’. She has been an inspiration to so many people including myself. Her dedication, her obvious love for her role and her boundless talents are acknowledged and appreciated by everyone who comes into contact with her. Her special passion is for infant feeding, advocating, encouraging and supporting breast feeding and running a frenulotomy (tongue tie) clinic - in fact her final nursing act today was to leave her ‘party’ behind and go to assess a jaundice baby leading to her making a referral to the clinic!
I say ‘party’ as sadly due to COVID we aren’t able to party properly, social distancing meant we couldn’t invite past colleagues and friends to join her, we couldn’t even throw open the doors of the room and let everyone crowd in. She had her seat, and a few of us, socially distanced in the room (Max 8 persons allowed) to enable us to review her nursing career, tell her how much she will be missed and present her with a few gifts to send her on her way. There was plenty of cake !!
The extra is a photo of her special cake. The HRF golden boobs award’! For her commitment and dedication to the mums who really want to breast feed but struggled along the way
Miss you already Helen x
