Framlingham Castle
It was a lovely day today, and we set off for this castle (in the distance) about 15 miles away from our holiday house. There was a bit of queuing - suitably distanced - but soon we climbed up the stairway in the curtain wall and walked round the walls. Excellent view of the surrounding countryside, and as, usual, tales of fearsome battles in the past. Picnic lunch in the central courtyard, then walked round the mere (lake) which had provided water and fish for the castle inhabitants. It was a bit muddy but the sun was shining all day. Home via Saxtead Green Post Mill, but could not go inside, so did not stay long! Back to our cottage again for our final meal, and packed up ready for clearing out by 10.00 tomorrow. It has been a truly welcome break in Covid times!!
