Mushroom

Thank you for all your comments and support yesterday. Susan was heartened by your concern. It remains to be seen if we can persuade the district nurses to come and change Doreen’s dressing.

It was a gloriously warm autumn morning as we walked through Mote Park on the way to town and the library to collect a book that I’d reserved before the lockdown last March. Gradually the libraries are opening up, not all of them and we’re wondering whether they all will or will the pandemic be the excuse the County Council might use to save money on library services. If they did, it would be unforgivable.

Plenty of opportunity for a blip in Mote Park with the sunshine and blue skies. However, I plumped for this single mushroom nestled in a drift of leaves in a shady part of the park.

We had an excellent baked potato with cheese and beans followed by coffee which set us up for an afternoon at Doreen’s. Susan embarked on a frenzy of cleaning while I helped by pleating and hanging new curtains, making a bed and generally moving furniture and tidying up. I left her still going hammer and tongs while her mum sat enjoying her new ejector seat chair. I went for a run, then prepared dinner for Susan’s return.
