Festival

The bed was huge and very comfortable and the ac was fantastic so I had a great night's sleep.

There was drumming when I awoke but it wasn't till I went out (after much tea, a bath and a shower) that I discovered the street at the top of the road had been converted to a gigantic outdoor dining area and that a Chinese New Year festival was in full swing complete with drummers and lion dancers.

The day after a wedding is always slow, especially when people have been late to bed. We eventually gathered up all the bags and boxes, tracked down the mislaid items and headed back for a late lunch at Tony Roma's, watching another hummungus downpour.

A rest is needed before the next event on the calendar, the Hokkien celebration which starts at 11 tonight to mark the 8th day of Chinese New Year and the escape many years ago of the Hokkien, Fruit and sugar cane will play a big part.

Meanwhile, off for that rest.
