Half term
Three cheers to all the teachers, the teaching assistants, the lunchtime support, the admin staff and the cleaners. You all deserve a large glass of something delicious followed by a week in bed. Heroes, all of you.
Our half term ended on such a lovely note. If I wasn't so exhausted I'd almost be wishing I could be back in school next week.
We started with our final assembly, this morning with the Year 7s, which was obviously delightful. Then our first John Muir session with 10 brilliant Year 8s. Today was mostly an introduction but we did manage to get outside and do some leaf printing. The next 12 weeks will include exploring local 'wild places' and will involve orienteering, campfire cooking, fat-ball making and creating a rope bridge to cross a stream, among other things. I think I'm more excited than they are. From there I had a mentoring session, my fifth with this young person. My heart breaks for her and I wish I could do more but know I can't. Days like this make me consider fostering. Then three wild and brilliant lunch club with some of our favourite young people. What an absolute treat.
Takeaway and a Dawson's session with Grace later tonight because, let's be honest, what else is there to do right now?!
