Beadnell
it was a very wet morning and we happily resisted the temptation to go out. The afternoon looked brighter, so after lunch we got in the car but had no idea where we were heading, apart from ‘along the coast a bit.’
We started at Budle Bay and sat in the car for 10 minutes waiting for the rain to stop. It didn’t, so we started driving south and said we’d stop when the rain did! We passed Bamburgh, Seahouses, Beadnell, Embleton and as the rain eased off decided to stop at Craster.
We walked towards Dunstanburgh Castle and the sun came out which was lovely. Back at Craster harbour we spent a while watching the birds (of course) on the shore - more of the same - turnstones, redshanks, little plovers and some more purple sandpipers. See extras for a view of Dunstanburgh Castle ruins from the harbour.
After our time in the carpark was up, we drove back towards home and stopped at Beadnell for a short walk on the beach (one hour free parking).
As we drove into the carpark we could physically see more rain coming down from the clouds but it was still sunny. 5 minutes later it had passed over and the harbour gave me some nice light so this is my blip for today.
I’m not sure we will be so lucky with the weather tomorrow, but I hope we can at least pop out for an hour or so for a blip.
