Two timing
Our kitchen clock of nearly forty years mystifies new visitors. Ignore the numbers and from the position of the hands it is quarter past 11. Look at the figure at the small hand and the time is quarter past four, being the time in Vancouver, Canada where our son's family lives.
The clocks here went back an hour last night; Vancouver will do likewise in two weeks time, when the time difference will revert to 8 hours; the face of our clock will be turned clockwise to leave the 4 at the top.
I began to wonder if analog clocks were still on sale and were young children taught to tell the time from them. It appears that there is much debate on whether 'the clock' should be taught. Imagine a time when people would look at a clock tower or Big Ben and wonder what time it really was.
I remember learning the clock from a favourite toy; a Kiddiclock made by Kiddicraft
