Leith Hill
We woke up to thunder and rain this morning. I remembered to change all the clocks last night before I went to bed for that extra hour but of course one's body clock still wakes up at the same time regardless of what the clock is showing.
We had planned to do a walk up and around Leith Hill today, a circular walk finishing near a country pub where we planned to eat lunch. As it was raining heavily the idea did not seem very appealing, but Gavin was still keen to do it.
The drive there takes longer than expected as you drive along such narrow country lanes where two cars cannot pass and so if another car approaches it is a bit of a job to find a passing place. By the time we got there it was sunny with blue skies, I could not quite believe it after the dismal start to the morning. The autumn colours were outstanding, and we had a wonderful walk. Many other people were also out enjoying the fresh air and we also saw quite a few teenagers doing their DoE hikes, and of course many cyclists as the Surrey Hills are very popular for cycling. I loved the shape of this tree near the top of the hill, and you can see in the extra how blue the sky was in the other direction. From up there you could see Gatwick Airport in the distance and also Dunsfold Aerodrome.
We planned it well as we finished the walk in time for our lunch at the pub. It was a quick lunch with well spaced tables and all the staff wearing masks so we felt fine about being in there. Since we got home, I have been editing my photos while Gavin went to the driving range, and Xena is sleeping after her good walk.
