Spooks in Haworth
Day two of our staycation today in Haworth.
We did zoom church this morning and then after lunch headed over the hill to the next valley to check in to Ashmount House in Haworth. We were wished a happy anniversary and were told there was complimentary sherry and champagne in our room! (Actually the champagne turned out to be form the family)
This may all seem fairly eccentric especially as our 45th wedding anniversary was in March. That says it all really. We should have been staying in a lovely parador in Cadiz in late March but of course it was cancelled. Our lovely family felt sorry for us so booked us dinner and a night at Ashmount House in Haworth for Sunday 22nd March but as full lockdown started the next day we chickened out and postponed.
So here we are.
Grace and John have been here three times, the first for their wedding night. I have been here twice for afternoon tea but staying is a real treat. They have taken the opportunity to refurbish over lockdown period and we have a lovely room.
We had about an hour wandering down Haworth Main Street
which was quite busy with most shops open and lots of nods to Halloween which is coming at the end of the week. This carved pumpkin was just outside a private house. Think it’s brilliant.
Haworth is also a great place to come to see Christmas decorations too so will be back in a month or so no doubt.
We called at the White Lion for drink before returning to the hotel as the sun disappeared. My first time in a pub without eating!
Going to try the jacuzzi bath before dinner. (G & J always have the outside hot tub whatever time of year they’ve been, I’m glad we don’t as I would feel I had to use it!)
Will crack open the champagne later - cheers!
Thank you so much guys!
The extra came this morning. Jude made me laugh and I wonder how Eda got onto that stool wearing the mermaid’s tail! (She often chooses to eat her breakfast on there)
Just looked back and my blip three years ago was spooky Halloween decorations in Haworth here
