Deer Deer Deer

When I was a child - maybe six years old? - I apparently knew one joke and was trotted out one evening when my parents had guests to perform my trick. "Have you heard the story of the three holes in the ground?" I said. "No!" the adults dutifully replied. "Dear, dear, dear" I said, shaking my head. I'm sure everyone was amused, charmed even, despite my having totally blown the punchline.
