Sally Mair - Loving life

Pumpkin Lane!

Popped out to Dobbies in Livingston,( its actually at Uphall /Dechmont, but we won't argue) to pick up some plants for the fish tank. I rather liked their entrance display for Hallowe'en .
Back home having sorted out the plants I added them to the tank which looks much better now. There seems to have been a stowaway in the bag, I now have a tiny little loach (fish) which must have been in the tank with the plants. I wonder if he'll survive. I tend to avoid very tiny fish as the angel fish considers them to be a perfect appetiser.
I hadn't realised that Tesco had sold Dobbies way back in 2016 to a Midlothian company, not sorry about that.
We took Colin's car down to the garage we use in Restalrig, having been quoted £500 plus labour by a large chain to replace a part. Our other smaller garage reckons only a part of it needs replaced so should cost under £100. As I've said before, we've been going to the small garage since 1984, it's the other side of town but well worth it. It changed owners a number of years ago and we were delighted when the new company seemed to have the same ethos.
We had rather a nice piece of lamb fillet for dinner with almost the last of the runner beans from the garden. Just a few left which I'm nurturing until the frost gets them. We had a big bowl of raspberries for pudding, they still seem to be doing well out there.

A TV evening tonight, Mastermind, Only Connect and then Edinburgh qualifying for the next round of University Challenge. Jeremy Paxman has a bad case of lockdown hair!!! Good that they managed to carry on filming, there was quite a gap between rounds by the look of things.

Take care everybody, It would be good if Edinburgh could move down a level when the new scale is introduced.
