Housenick Memorial Park ...
... Downy woodpecker.
As rain was forecast for most of the afternoon we went out before lunch for our walk. And since Housenick Park is the closest that's where we ended up going.
We took the longer walk today going down to the bird blind and then a little further. On our return we stopped again at the bird blind to see if there were any birds around and we did see several different species. Including this beautiful male Downy woodpecker.
But on the way to the bird blind we first saw the beautiful white-tailed deer (a buck) that I have put in extras. He appeared to be just coming out of the creek that's right in front of him (not visible in picture) as he stood shaking off the water. In some of my pictures you can actually see the water flying off!
I spent the rest of the day just doing stuff around the house and watching my beloved Seattle Seahawks lose their first game of the season. And the Tampa Bay Rays also lost their World Series game. For those of you that don't follow American baseball ... the World Series games are the best of seven games. The LA Dodgers are now leading the series 3 games to 2 by the Rays. Bummer.
