The African
Not a blue plaque this time but a green one.
I spotted this on a University building on my way to the supermarket for a sandwich at lunchtime. I'd never heard of Olaudah Equiano before but it sounds as if he's been a historical figure on the National Curriculum recently (along with Mary Seacole). Apparently Michael Gove wants them both removed and it has raised some protests.
Went straight from the train, via a coffee shop, to meet up with some of my former colleagues. We had a lovely evening - it was great to catch up and find out what they are all up to. Several more now have new jobs and are feeling much happier as a result. We may all get together again soon to mark another escape.
Managed to get a late bus home and was still in bed just before midnight. Looking forward to a lie in tomorrow.
