Gourock Linkspan Life Extension Project

Quite a mouthful....this Calmac linkspan ( ferry docking ramp system) has been needing work for a while and the two month project is necessary to accommodate vehicle ferries especially during winter storms when island ferries are often diverted to this sheltered harbour. Ardrossan (for Isle of Arran)and Wemyss Bay (for Isle of Bute) in the open Firth of Clyde are very exposed ferry ports
