Young'un
This tiny (less than 1") Southern Toad was swimming around, as a tadpole, in one of the ponds at the DogPark earlier this year. Now it's a Yearling, busily hunting in the leaf litter for it's next meal of some hapless insect. These tiny toads, and there are a lot of them this year, are a challenge to get a close shot of. They are very timid, probably because they are also very tasty! They quickly hop away as my camera and I approach. I try not to harass and frighten them 'too' much as I attempt to secure a portrait of one of my favorite amphibians.
