Shaggy Scalycap
Pholiota squarrosa
I saw this rather wonderful fungi in the reserve this morning. As far as I can remember, I've never seen it before, it looks like it's got toasted coconut on top ;)). I know nothing about fungi, but my field guide says it usually grows at the base of ash trees. Well there was a large amount at the base of this tree, but it was a willow. I rather loved this smaller grouping though, in the crook of a couple of branches.
It's the first fungi I've blipped this autumn, though there's a lot around.
Not a lot else for today, but I did buy a bunch of coloured background papers for my so-called 'studio'. It felt like a good moment to get organised, with the amount of wet weather right now.
A lot of pumkins are appearing on doorsteps round here, though I haven't yet seen any cut into faces yet. I'm sure that will come
Happy Thursday evening xx
