Doxey Pool

This is Doxey Pool (there are various alternative spellings). It is near The Roaches, not far from where I live. Legend has it that it is bottomless and haunted by a mermaid called Jenny Greenteeth. So haunted in fact that birds will not fly over it and animals will not drink from it.
The nearby pub was called The Mermaid and Jenny would lure local men to a watery grave.
She calls on you to greet her
Combing her dripping crown
And if you go to greet her
She ups and drags you down....
