Strictly Lockdown

The TV tonight saw a bizarre sequence.

A press briefing where the PM announced a one month England lockdown. None of it was news, media close to the government had been fully briefed beforehand so everyone knew what was coming.

The PM seemed to be rushing. The key objective seemed to be not to disrupt Strictly Come Dancing, which immediately followed.

The strangest of juxtapositions.

Who needs Halloween.

Some honesty is needed in all this. Covid is going to be with us for a long time, the strategy has to be about how our collective behaviour can keep the infection rate low. We aren’t going back to “normal” any time soon.
