Once in a Blue Moon - Once in a lifetime

SATURDAY - Hallowe'en

A stormy day with rain and gusts of wind.

Between the showers I managed a few of walks around the block and just managed to clock up 10,000 steps at 11:55 pm. The extra, which I was going to use as the main blip,  was taken mid-morning from the lane at the back of the house.

Tonight's moon is the second full moon of the calendar month and earns the title Blue Moon. It is  rare for two full moons to grace a single month, occurring roughly every two and a half years. It is rarer still for a full moon to fall on Hallowe'en. The last time a full moon fell across all time zones  on Hallowe'en was in 1944.

I was hoping to catch it rising but its timing (16:55) clashed with Boris's scheduled announcement (which didn't actually happen until gone half-past six) and there was also band of cloud on the horizon. . The photo was taken around 8 pm and there was still a thin veil of cloud obscuring some of the finer detail.

The only trick or treater I saw this evening was Boris. At last he has conceded that a national lockdown is necessary to try to prevent the NHS being overwhelmed. A lot of detail is still missing from what is proposed so we will have to see what is in the actual legislation. Furthermore it looks like the plan for West Yorkshire to move up to tier 3 on Monday has now being shelved.
