Friends at Dinner

Lynn and Andreas are in town for a couple of days and took us to dinner at the Ambassade d'Auvergne, an excellent restaurant with regional cuisine (including aligote--a mashed potato and cheese blend visible on Lynn's plate; it's an Auvergne specialty).

Lynn is an American with whom I worked very closely at Dresdner Bank in New York starting about 1988, peddling German stocks. Soon afterwards she married Andreas, and moved to Frankfurt, where she joined Merrill Lynch. We've met only occasionally since, but it's always great to get together.

In the afternoon we attended a performance of a French translation of the dramatiztion of the Diary of Anne Frank by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett (it won a Pulitzer prize in 1955). Thierry Pons (Dider's brother) played Anne Frank's father; it was an amateur group, but the acting and the production were superb.
