Loy Krathong

This weekend Chiang Mai celebrated Loy Krathong and the Lantern Festival.   It was very quiet with no parade and no lanterns.  There were a few fireworks.  The moat, which is usually the main attraction, did have lanterns and two floats. It all felt sad. Last year we walked around town looking at the beautiful lanterns and watched the fire works.  This year we  simply had dinner, took some photos and came home.  I believe that the it was busy down by the river.   We talked with a friend in the restaurant who said that this was usually his favourite festival but felt that this year was very unspectacular.   Another victim of the lack of tourists due to Covid19.
