Practicing for Charades

I went to choose new spectacles today but M wasn't allowed in the Optician's to help me pick.  So we performed this sort of 'mime' through the shop window, where I tried on a selection of shortlisted frames and he had to provide an opinion and rate them in order.  It's surprising how well we communicated and managed to arrive at the chosen pair, which were duly ordered and will be ready in two weeks.

What's the connection with the photo?  Absolutely nothing.  This is a new reading lamp we've bought for the lounge so I can comfortably read or sew with adequate lighting without the glare of the main overhead light whilst M is watching football on the TV.  By some strange trick of the light today part of the lampshade's 'harp and finial fitting' was magnified and illuminated in a pleasing way that probably no one but a blipper looking for an image would even notice.
