Last fruit of the year

It can be hard to tell when these little 'Chilean guava' berries are really ripe. But now their scent wafts around the garden, brightening up a dull day. This lot went in with some of the stored quinces, to make jelly - a soothing distraction on an apprehensive day.
We're not going to stay up to watch the US election results start to come in.  But neither of us sleeps very well at the best  of times. So I know we'll be glancing at the news on our phones at intervals, in the coming hours. Fingers crossed.
