Old School
The Sir John Maxwell Primary school is just along from the Pollokshaws Burgh Hall, both are of the same era, the school in red sandstone and the hall in yellow. I walk past it from this angle most days and I’m always struck by the juxtaposition of the three examples of modern quick build housing representing three different decades. What I didn’t know until recently was the school, which closed in 2011, had a thriving Gaelic unit established in 1985. It sits vacant and inexorably moving towards dereliction.
It was dark by the time I returned from swimming and a detoured walk back home. Swimming felt good today and again the 2.15 slot was quiet. Spent some time on my breaststroke, although I fear I am practising errors. I really need to get a coaching session booked that is on hold at the moment, although oddly they are keen to get you to book a (free) session with a personal trainer.
The remaining task for the day is stay awake until the Florida result comes in, like Janey Godley I will be Biding in for Biden.
