Grand Haven Lighthouse is actually two lighthouses connected by a 1,100 feet pier. it sits at the end of a channel where the Grand River spills into Lake Michigan. The view and the experience of walking out to the end of the pier is spectacular.

The two lights are connected by a raised catwalk that the operators use to get to the foghouse and the light tower in heavy weather.

The lights and pier were first built in 1839 and only lasted 13 years before the lake hammered in into oblivion. It was rebuilt several times.

The pier itself is covered in treacherous, slippery ice. I fell once taking this shot and saw some Blip stars before I even took the photo.
