Cluny House Gardens

This is a privately-owned garden in Scotland open to the public. Bobby Masterton who created Cluny, was fortunate to receive 400 of the 20,000 packets of seed from the Sherriff and Ludlow expedition to Bhutan in 1949. Much of the seed collected came from an altitude of 10,000 to 14,000 ft  and the resulting plants suited the soil and climatic conditions at Cluny. It is one of the most unsung gardens in Scotland and magical at this time of year. In front of the house there are a number of fine examples of Acers or Japanese maples. In autumn these small trees appear to be on fire with wonderful orange and red hues. Red squirrels are supported by a. number of feeding stations where they dart around with the speed of light.
