Easter Road Station

Site of the old Easter Road Station, Edinburgh on the old NBR branch to Newhaven and Granton. BR closed the station in 1947 and the branchline was severely cut back to terminate at a waste disposal plant at Powderhall which was served by rail delivering containers of refuse. The plant shut in 2016 due to environmental concerns (it had been scheduled to close down in 2018 anyway), since when the rails have been abandoned. Proposals are being considered to convert the route into a footpath/cycle path.
