Scotland trip day 12

We decided to stay closer to home today and take advantage of the many walks around Blair Castle.

With the sun on our backs we leave the site and head through the gate onto a tree lined  road, after about 5 mins we arrive at the impressive building of Blair Castle.
Taking  the track on the right we pass a deer enclosure and  the entrance to Diana’s grove home of a ‘ grand fir’ which is the second tallest tree in the UK. measuring 62.7metres. (like the castle this was also closed)

Leaving the castle behind we take a left turn and enter the woods with the Banvie burn below, we soon arrive at a small moss covered bridge, from here we take a detour to the Whim, this folly was built in 1761 from here there are stunning views of the castle and beyond to Ben Vrackie. 
Returning to the main path we continue upwards with the sound of the burn in our ears. Crossing a second bridge we gradually make our descent down through the forest until we reach a gate we return along the castle track and home.

All in all a very nice 5 mile.
