More Than Just Good Friends
Having been a military ‘brat’ and then serving in the RN myself it took me some considerable time to realise that once you leave no one actually cares what you have been, done or seen.
So I gradually accepted that the old adage; “service not self” means diddly in day-to-day life.
So as I have aged I have come to realise that my wife not only loves me unconditionally but understands me.
When I say to her; “can we drive round the point?”, she knows that I just want to look at, smell and ‘feel’ the sea. Sometimes it’s enough to just look out of an open car window, others to sit on the bench and gaze out.
These times will become more important in the coming months.
