Fog swirling over The Horns and Thrupp

This scene seemed to change imperceptibly but my pictures show that the mists shifted swiftly. I love the way that the movement amongst the trees and down the coombes highlights differences in the forms of the local landscape.

In the foreground is the old Wey, a hardly visible ancient trackway providing a safe dry route from the 'tops' down to and across the river. Immediately behind is a short stream where oak trees grow. Ferney Close rises towards the small settlement of Thrupp which has developed along the side of the valley just above the spring line. The main Golden Valley curves around to the left with the Brimscombe valley joining on the far side as it descends from Minchinhampton Common on the far horizon.
