Migration and murmuration

Today F and I went to Whixall Moss for a walk. There was hardly anyone around, no trouble socially distancing there!

It's one of those places where you can see lots or nothing but today we were lucky seeing stonechats and a peregrine, plus a large flock of winter thrushes flying over.  No photos though as they were all a long way away.

On the way home we saw a tawny owl sitting in a tree preening before flying away so a great end to the day!

We watched a murmuration of starlings at the Moss and then a skein of pink footed geese flew over.  They migrate to the UK from Greenland and Iceland and make a lot of noise honking as they pass over.  My blip shows the geese at the top going in the opposite direction to the flock of starlings.  The extra is another photo of the starlings.

2500 blips today so Blip tells me, I'm amazed to have got this far, I thought a year was optimistic!
